About Mark.
Mark had a successful 22 year career with HSBC Bank working in senior leadership roles in the UK and overseas, across a range of businesses. Expertise built during this period included; strategic leadership, risk assessment and management (financial and non financial), public relations and communications, stakeholder engagement, profit and loss and balance sheet management, change leadership, crisis management and training and development.

Before setting up Mark Tate Associates, Mark was Chief Executive Officer of the Cairngorms Business Partnership (CBP) for 8 years. The CBP is the Chamber of Commerce for the Cairngorms National Park and operates the Destination Management Organisation, VisitCairngorms. Under Mark’s leadership the CBP significantly grew its membership, secured its financial sustainability and built its reputation locally and nationally as a voice for business in the Cairngorms. Mark led the Destination Management Organisation to become one of the most respected in Scotland and beyond with a social media reach of over 150,0000, a direct mail database of over 60,000 and a website, with e-commerce capabilities, that has an average over over 30,000 individual visits per month.

Mark successfully led the business community, building strong partnerships and support, through the Covid-19 crisis, putting communities at the heart of thinking to ensure that when visititors were welcomed following lockdowns, they were welcomed in a way that gave confidence to communities, employees and visitors.
​
Mark is an experienced non executive director and board chair, most recently Chair of High Life Highland a charity delivering services for Highland Council from leisure to youth work and through its 800 strong team making life better for people in the Highlands.
​
Mark loves living in, working in and caring for the Cairngorms National Park and when not work can be found out exploring on bike, ski and foot.
